INTERVIEW WITH OLIVER MAGNOLITO Priego, FATHER OF THE INITIATIVE "DIP" and President of ADIP.

  • How did this initiative?
  • International Day of Painting "is my idea, which I launched with the help of artists Joan and Pat Parramón Hillaire in 2006. Then they added: Dario Sigismondo, Tatto Cabrero, Carmen Gómez, Marisa Ramon, ect. We have recently formed a legal entity nonprofit association under the name International Art Day (ADIP), with its founding partners the following artists: Magnola Oliver (chairman), Tatto Cabrero (vice president), Gaston Loidi (secretary) Joan Parramón (treasurer), Orie Sanchez (vocals), Carmen Gomez (vocals), Marisa Ramon (vocals), Mar Serra (vocals) and Mary Galí (vocal).
  • "Are there many members?

Yes, for the time we have. To date we have about 76 attached. Needless to say, the number of artists interested in supporting the initiative is, of course, very old, and the supporters.

  • Does it work only in Barcelona and also at the national or international?

Yes, we operate from Barcelona, but we already know in many countries (France, Italy, Germany, USA, Argentina, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Cuba, Morocco, Japan, etc ...).

  • Have you had a good reception? Why lovers of painting in general? Why institutions?

The reception from artists and art lovers, the truth has been very good, except one or two exceptions, however, although it was somewhat expected, the arts and cultural institutions have shown no interest in our project, to the time. Neither major galleries lend a hand ... we are a bunch of mobsters, speaking evil.

  • How do you financiáis?

Only through the contributions of our partners. Neither altruistic donations or grants or anything like that. Ours is pure love of art!

  • What activities do you carry?

Above all exhibitions. We have been about ten in total (the last was held in the Library of Sant Adrià, in last June). We also prepared the "First Catalogue" Artists DIP 2009 ", open to all artists. To participate should send curriculum art (no more than one sheet) and two photos of his own works. Price is: Partners (2 ?) and nonmembers (10 ?), payable in the Tarragona Caixa current account number 2073 0226 36 0110155011, taking as reference the name and last name.

  • How do you give to know?

Through internet, blogs, web pages, newspapers ... Our media are the most modest.

  • What are your main objectives?

Citing our manifesto: Move to artists, gallery owners, art dealers, critics, teachers, dealers, scholars, collectors, art lovers and artists from around the world and condition ... Institutions and associations involved in cultural and artistic world, in order to bring the street to the general public, especially people the chance to spend one day some space and time to search and find PAINT and visual sisters, a source of joy and excitement. In short: "Promoting the Declaration of the International Day of painting through exhibitions, events and contests, among others."

What is the painting for you?

Let me answer you question investing. In our blog we have a section titled "What is not painting to you?, Here you can see the different members' views about such as:" not benefit "(Robert Pria)," There is callousness " (Maka Fidyca), "Quantity and quality (status) "(Magnolito P. Oliver)," Boredom "(Joan Parramón)," Nada "(Tatto Cabrero)," Business "(Marta Casals)," a hobby "(Mauro Basile)," Life real "(Joseph Puig):" For me, painting is not injustice "(Felipe Sérvulo)," The painting is ... It is left to win, to gain freedom to express myself. It is not locked up in their feelings, is to open up and scream "(Rosa Virgili)," For me, painting is not conformism "(Montse French))," Painting is not the same thing for me is not for you, but the difference for me is more than for you "(Carmen Gómez)," The painting is not for me, is not able to interpret my inner world "(Enrique Fonte)," The denial of life "(José Miguel Uzcategui);" It is silent or not silent, for all which can be expressed in silence and without voice (Pilar Sanchez) ...

  • Did I not surprised that the painting being an ancient art, essential in the history of mankind, which allows to know the ways of life, history and culture from different periods ... not yet have a date set in the timetable for conclusion ?

Yes it is somewhat surprising, not to mention incomprehensible and unfair to all lights. Some think the main reason is due to the policies established, since the painting, by its universal character, is far more dangerous than writing.

  • What do you plan to celebrate the DIP?

Do the same as last year: Under the theme "International Day of Painting Now! The painting and painters deserve (deserve) this recognition from ancient antiquity and social well!, will conduct a macroexposición of paintings in Barcelona, at the street-Vermell Allada, near the Picasso Museum.
